Dr. Christopher Uggen is an orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Shoulder Surgery, and Trauma. He specializes in the non-operative and operative treatment of shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries; minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery; and shoulder and knee replacements.

Originally from Kalamazoo, MI, Dr. Uggen completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and studied abroad with Semester At Sea. Dr. Uggen earned his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the LIJ/North Shore Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA. He also completed an additional fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at the University of Basel in Switzerland.

While in Los Angeles, Dr. Uggen participated in the care and treatment of athletes and patients from the high school to professional level, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Kings, Galaxy, Sparks, and Anaheim Ducks.

In addition to providing excellent clinical care, Dr. Uggen instructs advanced knee and shoulder surgery at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery Learning Center in Chicago, IL and educates orthopaedic surgery residents and medical students at the Western Michigan Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine in Kalamazoo, MI. His teaching awards include the Arthroscopy Association of North America Snyder Award and the WMed Orthopaedic Educator of the Year. He has published numerous papers in peer reviewed orthopaedic surgery journals.

Dr Uggen is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery.
